Wait... so what is marketing exactly?

A lot of marketing agencies (which we are not) are focussed on digital marketing - on promotional activities in other words. They talk a lot about marketing strategy too, but it is often in the context of their digital marketing expertise.

 

As marketing consultants, when we're speak of marketing strategy and planning, we're talking about the whole process:

  • the market analysis and performance diagnosis that comes first to get a clear picture of where your business is at
  • the strategic targeting, positioning and objectives that provide a clear, quantifiable direction
  • the tactical plan, incorporating not just the promotional activities, but also product, distribution and pricing.
  • the resourcing of the plan, including  budgeting, people, software, agencies.
