How we build you a Strategic Blueprint in 2-3 weeks
We specifically developed the Audit + Blueprint service to avoid analysis paralysis (and related strategic planning ailments!). The process enables us to rapidly assess the marketing capability of any industrial business (irrespective of size, business model or maturity or marketing prowess) and provide a strategic blueprint in 2-3 weeks. This results in a 90 day plan of action shaped to fit the strengths, shortcomings, priorities and resources of each business.

What happens after the Blueprint?
A completed Blueprint provides everything you need to start building out your strategic marketing plan.
The next step is the Implementation of the Blueprint. This is where you start actioning the recommended initiatives e.g. conduct analysis to close gaps in information, lock down the strategic direction and develop a full tactical marketing plan and budget. It also involves concurrently working on quick wins, priority campaigns and the like - we still incorporate actions to drive short-term business needs.
During this next phase, you can continue to work with us, leveraging our experience to lead the implementation and achieve the desired outcomes within the project timeframe. Or you can choose to implement the Blueprint on your own if you feel you are adequately resourced.

The Lead Consultant
The Strategic Marketing Audit and Blueprint process is run by David Leahy, the principal marketing consultant at Brucey.
Dave brings over 20 years industrial marketing experience in Australia and around the world, working with over 40 small-to-medium-sized industrial businesses (from $5m to $500m), as well as multi-billion dollar global manufacturers including Volvo Commercial Vehicles (Mack Trucks, Renault Trucks) and Acco Brands (GBC, Acco, Rexel, Kensington).
He brings a comprehensive approach to marketing — beyond just digital tactics — to help businesses see their brand from the customer’s point of view, and to develop strategic marketing accordingly.
With extensive experience in industrial marketing and business growth, Dave works across all customer touchpoints (including with sales and customer service teams) to drive real commercial impact.

Our Audit is mostly a one-size-fits-all process.
The below table, whilst not definitive, provides indicative guidelines for our pricing. Due to the varied nature of businesses, we are able to confirm which Audit category your business fits into once we've had an initial conversation with you, including whether it is conducted 100% remote, hybrid or 100% in-person (N.B. we are big believers in the benefits of at least some face-to-face time during the process).

Firstly, we work with industrial businesses - those in manufacturing, engineering and construction or related fields.
Secondly, there are two main industrial business types we typically work with:
- Businesses who have not historically been highly marketing-focussed. They are less strategic and more ad hoc tactically driven, don't use metrics well to measure and drive business outcomes. However, they have a challenge or opportunity in their business that now requires a change of approach e.g. new product/service, change in market or competitive conditions, desire to grow/scale.
- Marketing-savvy businesses who already do a lot of the above well. The business has likely grown successfully up until now, but are looking for additional expertise to help them through the next phase of growth. This might involve one of many initiatives, such as developing a new business model, systemising their GTM approach, optimising their systems further for scale, developing a solid strategic framework that can be used to drive bold growth objectives.
The Blueprint lays the foundation for a completed strategic growth plan.
Depending on a company's size, complexity, go-to-market process and strategic maturity, the amount of work required to develop a strategic plan can vary greatly.
Hence why we developed a standard Blueprint process, which lays the ground work and then maps out any remaining requirements, including:
- what information gaps require further research, analysis, team discussions, workshops, etc
- developing firm set of strategic targets, objectives and positioning
- modelling a viable budget that enables these objectives to be reached
- mapping out a 12 month marketing and sales/service enablement plan
- defining additional resources, including people, systems, training
- capturing quick wins that can be concurrently working on
We often work alongside businesses during this Blueprint Implementation phase to complete their strategic marketing plan, whilst concurrently acting on quick win opportunities, training teams, getting systems operational and optimised.
Our Audit & Blueprint process generally takes 2-3 weeks. This is largely determined by the availability of your team and ability to stick to agreed timelines.
Where business requirements dictate a shorter or longer timeframe (e.g. pressing business needs, a pending acquisition, multiple timezone challenges, etc) we can discuss options to adapt the timing to suit.
This is determined a lot by the business priorities and ongoing commitment to marketing implementation. However, we aim to work with businesses targeting multi-million dollar growth and/or profit improvement.
For example, 10% to 30% YOY growth goals.
We've helped double revenue year-on-year, achieve 25% EBIT, scale teams and market penetration, develop and launch market-changing products and enter new global markets.
In general, we want a business to achieve a 20x - 100x return on their investment with us.
One thing our customers have in common in their leadership team is a lack of time. We've built the Blueprint process to minimise as much as possible the time required from key people.
We customise who is involved in each step based on the availability of key people in your business. But we absolutely need some involvement from the leadership team, as well as key people across sales, marketing, customer support.
In total, the process requires about 7-10 hours over 4 meetings (and we willingly increase this when more time is needed). Often if the MD/CEO or other key roles can't or shouldn't be involved in all meetings, we work through this with you in our initial Discovery Call.
This is a Blueprint for Growth. As such, it should fundamentally take into account the longer-term company goals, vision and direction.
This dictates a need for key people from the leadership team to be involved e.g.
- MD/CEO/Owner
- GMs or heads of department
- Key sales and customer service/success roles
- Marketing team
- Other relevant roles as applies to your business e.g. key technical, financial, operational roles
We've priced the Blueprint to work for small businesses too, though understand for some, especially < $3m it may seem like a big commitment. Or perhaps you're more concerned of the ROI or the ability to implement the Blueprint with a small team.
